About The Role:
- The role encompasses a broad range of day to day tasks ranging from research into new metering and communications technology, the integration of off the shelf products to create a custom solution for our clients, through to the delivery of training to our meter installers.
- The Metering Applications Engineer shall work in a team who is responsible for the selection, integration, testing and documentation of metering and communications technology.
- The role includes the opportunity to gain experience across numerous engineering and IT fields including the use of telemetry equipment, communications systems and large back end data collection and database systems.
Key Requirements:
- Programming Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent. A combined IT / Electrical Engineering degree is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of communications, particularly RS232, Ethernet and TCP/IP.
- Strong background in Electronics and Computer Hardware.
Key Skills:
- Programming Languages, especially C / C++, .Net and Visual Basic.
- Broad knowledge of communications bearers and standards based protocols.
- Strong analytical skills in assessing problems.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Written communications skills, particularly in the creation of Engineering Reports and User Documentation.
- Ability to work unsupervised and as a productive member of a team.
Other Requirements:
- Good commercial aptitude/experience would be an advantage.
- A can and will do attitude towards delivering a first class customer experience every time.
- Commitment, drive and enthusiasm to ensure professional solutions are delivered in a fast moving and changing environment.

Hours:
