Bglobal plc (AIM: BGBL), the leading smart metering and energy data company, announces that it has been accredited by ELEXON to provide metering data services in the UK Half Hourly Electricity market.
Bglobal, under its Market Participant Identifier BMET, has been approved to operate as a Half Hourly Data Collector and Half Hourly Data Aggregator. Bglobal is already accredited as a Half Hourly Meter Operator and will be able to provide a full package of Half Hourly market metering and data services alongside its established Non Half-Hourly smart metering services.
Electricity meters with a peak load above 100kW are required to be read every 30 minutes. Such meters are typically owned and operated by large commercial and industrial customers with substantial demands for power. Approximately 115,000 meters, which consume approximately 40% of the UK’s total electricity, are currently read in the Half Hourly market.
Tony Barnes, Chief Executive of Bglobal said: “Bglobal is proud to be the first metering company to introduce price and service innovation to the UK’s Non Half Hourly market, bringing the benefits of smart metering and accurate billing data to ordinary business all over Britain. By entering the Half Hourly market we aim to bring further innovation to the whole of the electricity market, delivering better standards of service and competitive prices for UK business electricity customers.
“Our entry into this market is in direct response to energy suppliers and customers who are asking for a single trusted supplier to deliver all their metering infrastructure and data requirements across both markets. Bglobal will be able to deliver a comprehensive package of Half-Hourly and Non Half-Hourly metering and data services across its customers’ entire portfolio of meters.”
